Types of T-Shirt Printing Equipments
T-shirt printing traditionally uses a mesh for screen printing. The textile inks are filtered through the screen using a squeegee, which is a piece of rubber with a wooden handle that is used to push the ink against the mesh. Innovations in t-shirt screen printing, however, have made the process easier and faster with new t-shirt printing equipment, especially the large drying machines that can cure multiple shirts at the same time at a faster rate.
Using A Squeegee and A Fine Mesh
A fine mesh with a high resolution is stretched from end to end in a square wood frame. The size will depend on how large the design area is on the t-shirt. Print screens with mesh counts of 160 to 280 can use multi-print standard opacity ink types while those with mesh counts of 230 to 305 can use process colors.
The ink is pushed against the mesh using a squeegee. The firmness of the rubber and the amount of pressure you apply will determine the right flooding of ink on the mesh. Too much will bleed the ink out of the design’s boundaries.
Using A Rotary T-Shirt Printing Machine
There are two types of t-shirt printing machines: manual and automatic. Manual rotary presses require human labor to move the different screens for each color and to apply ink using a squeegee. They also have different types based on the number of colors they can carry: Four Color, Six Color, and Ten Color.
The automatic t-shirt printing presses, on the other hand, only requires human labor for placing the t-shirts on the platforms under the screens and for taking them off for curing. The automatic rotary t-shirt printing machines have special parts that allow automated application of ink and for rotating the shirts from one color screen to another.
Types Of T-Shirt Printing Machines Based On Function
These t-shirt printing machines have different types also based on function. Belt presses are used to print designs all over the t-shirt by attaching it to a moving belt under the screens.
They are quite expensive because the registration and ink deposit are controlled in amounts that are outside of the industry standards. Discharge inks are often used to control the thickness, or "hand," of the design.
A second type of t-shirt printing machine is the all-over press. Similar to the belt press, the all-over press can print the design over the entire area of the shirt, including the sleeves.
However, instead of a belt, the all-over press uses one large and two smaller platforms to spread the shirt under the screens for printing. Although all-over presses can provide greater control over the quality of t-shirt printing, they cannot cover the whole shirt from end-to-end because of the edges of the metal plates.
The rarest of the specialized types of t-shirt printing machines is the cylinder press. It creates a continuous image of the print around the middle of the t-shirt. It works the same way as those printing presses for designing mugs, cups and other cylindrical objects.

Developments in Offset Printing
Offset printing is the printing technique used all over the world - where the inked image is transferred from a plate to a rubber blanket and then retransferred to the printing surface. When used in combination with the lithographic process, which is based on the repulsion of oil and water, the offset technique uses an image carrier on which the image to be printed obtains ink from ink rollers, while the non-printing area attracts a film of water. Offset printing has certain distinct advantages compared with other modes of printing such as - consistently sharp image quality, easy production of printing plates, longer life span of printing plate, because there is no direct contact between the plate and the printing surface, cost-effective as the more you print, the less you pay per page.
Offset printing is the most common form of high-volume commercial printing, due to advantages in quality and efficiency in high-volume jobs. Besides, many modern offset presses are using computer to plate systems as opposed to the earlier computer to films workflows, which further increases their quality of printing. More recently, flexography has become the most favored form of printing in packaging due to lower quality expectations and cheaper costs.
During the last decade and a half, offset printers have strived to effectively and efficiently combine the four basic parameters: quality, flexibility, productivity and environment. Printers are processing more and more four-color jobs and are also adapting to different qualities of paper. By this approach, printers and publishers are successfully satisfying customers’ changing needs and high quality expectations. In response to the emerging need to personalize newspapers and magazines runs are getting shorter and shorter. As a result, offset presses manufacturers have worked to reach shorter make-ready times. There have been remarkable developments of offset printing presses during the last 15 years. Manufacturers have increasingly automated their equipments and built machines to achieve faster output. Printers are under strong pressure from the European Community to eliminate pollution and switch over to environmentally-friendly processes. Compliance to environment regulations will become increasingly important as time passes.
Advancements in the computer to plate printing process have produced highly satisfying results. Improved print quality - laser graphics are first generation so there is no loss of resolution. Polymer plates made using film are second generation. In addition, because the computer to plate printing (CTP) process requires less consumables, CTP users are able to enjoy a number of cost saving benefits like - reduced plate usage (double-sided laser polymer plates can accommodate up to four images), elimination of film costs - image-setter or laser film, elimination of chemical costs - fixer, developer, and plate toner cartridges, elimination of supply shipping costs and hazardous material removal, elimination of maintenance contracts on processing equipment.
As regards savings in time and efficiency are concerned, computer to plate systems offer a number of benefits that include - improved plate throughput - it takes 3-5 minutes to etch a laser polymer plate against approximately 15 minutes for a polymer plate, full image and depth control give consistent plates every time, .reduced machine downtime due to avoidance of improperly made or damaged plates, not generating hazardous waste stream. There is much advancement in the computer to plate printing technology. When making a decision on the purchase of CTP equipment, one should be aware of the keys to the evaluation process: laser type, software capability, and system features.

What is the best computer/printer to buy for the money?
My computer is nearly 8 years old. It runs perfectly fine & runs fast. It is a great computer (I am knocking on wood right now lol). However, I cannot use any new software because it isn't compatible with my old windows. I could probably update my windows, but with as old as my computer is, it would probably be in my best interest to just buy a new one. Problem....I hate change & fear that a new computer may not last as long as this one has. I currently have a Pionex. All of my friends & family members complain of their systems crashing, running slow, etc. while I have my old Pionex and rarely have issues with it! I use my computer mostly to sell on eBay and would to find one that is as reliable as my Pionex. I also do alot of scrapbooking and am looking for a printer that will print pictures down to the very detail (I have to say, I have been through more printers than I would like to admit in the last 8 years!) Any suggestions? At least under $1500, preferrably $1000. Thanks
As you may know there is no 'one ' computer. It is a box in which various manufacturers components have been installed. Thus you may be buying an ASUS motherboard, an INTEL cpu, a Samsung hard drive etc.
Dell is a good place to start. Use their $1000 machine as a benchmark then look around. Don't try and get the same spec a lot cheaper -it will have poor quality components.
An AMD cpu is cheaper than INTEL (and virtually as good, maybe better in some instances). A good hard drive is Western Digital. A good m/b is ASUS (you can specify Intel chips)
A $1000 machine will be ideal for you (maybe too good!)
My own preference is to avoid HP, Gateway, Packard Bell
As for OS I would go for WINXP rather than VISTA. Vista will not run your old software and is still relatively new.
As for printers EPSON or Canon rather than Brother, HP or LEXMARK. Remember it's the INK that is the expense.

Wood Type
Wood Type

What type of wood was the cross of Christ, was it a cross or a tree?
Do we know? Seems like it would be a wood type common to the area.
Legend of the Dogwood tree:
In Jesus' time, the dogwood grew
To a stately size and a lovely hue.
'Twas strong and firm it's branches interwoven
For the cross of Christ its timbers were chosen.
Seeing the distress at this use of their wood
Christ made a promise which still holds good:
"Never again shall the dogwood grow
Large enough to be used so.
Slender and twisted, it shall be
With blossoms like the cross for all to see.
As blood stains the petals marked in brown
The blossom's center wears a thorny crown.
All who see it will remember Me
Crucified on a cross from the dogwood tree.
Cherished and protected, this tree shall be
A reminder to all of my agony."
