The Technicalities of Automotive Repair Manual
Repair manuals, for any product, are printed for the specific use and reference of manufacturer trained and certified technicians. The format on how it was printed is for the convenience of those who are knowledgeable is using them. This holds true especially for the automotive repair manuals. The manuals would have terminologies that could not be easily found in dictionaries. A good example to this is the "Positive Crankcase Ventilation" or PCV for short. Many mechanics are not familiar with it unless they have been trained where or how it can be located. That part has been overlooked or neglected in many troubleshooting because the mechanic did not know the effect on an engine. Some car brands have a PCV valve and some small rubber tubes, especially for earlier car models that did not have electronics in its system.
In using an automotive repair manuals, you should be able to differentiate from the original manufacturers repair service manual and a manual published for ‘do-it-yourselfers'. There is a big difference because a manufacturer's version would require use of special tools of which most are not available commercially. Manufacturers require these tools to ensure that disassembly and assembly is accurate down to specifications and preventing damage to the parts. An example for a tool required is a caliper. There are commercially available calipers that are not graduated and there are Vernier calipers and outside Micrometers graduated for accuracy. For a week-end mechanic, you will not have all those three measuring devices, right?
In order to save you the trouble of studying, understanding and learning to interpret a manufacturer's repair service manual, get a D-I-Yer's automotive repair manual. It will also save the time and cost of trying to acquire the needed tools. Usually you will only need regular automotive tools. Of course this advice is for those who are not trained and certified automotive technicians. Based on personal experience, I have now more tools than what I need because of trying to keep up with what manuals require. In most occasions, special tools are only good for a one-time use because it can not be used on anything else.
In having a repair service manual or haynes repair manuals, we often get excited when we are able to fix a car problem. There is a tendency for some to try and fix what is actually not broken. Avoid being an itchy mechanic when you have a manual. When there's nothing wrong with a part, don't try exploring it. It might cost you more than what you've bargained for it getting the manual.

Computer SMPS Service Manual – Detailed Information on Finding Gold Quality SMPS Repair Manual
If you need a computer SMPS service manual, then allow me to share with you a few tips to ensure you get only the best quality manual.
I know it's not easy to find a high-quality manual for servicing and repairing switch mode power supplies or SMPS. Actually, I've downloaded a couple of PDF repair guides but they weren't much help.
Here are some negative things about those guides…
(1) The instructions were difficult to understand.
(2) The instructions were not organized in a proper manner. For example, basic chapters like "understanding SMPS components" and "how to read schematic diagrams" were placed at the END of the manual!
And worst of all…
(3) Those computer SMPS service manuals did not have any step-by-step photo instructions!
Now I'm going to tell you how I discovered the best guide on troubleshooting and fixing all types of SMPS – not just computer SMPS.
The first thing I did was visit an online forum that is related to the subject of electronics. Believe me, you'll find many seasoned technicians hanging around electronics forums.
Some are very friendly and would be willing to offer valuable tips, advice and resources. In fact, I found a very high quality computer SMPS service manual thru recommendation from a respected forum member.
So you should definitely seek help from online forums. If you post your questions properly, you'd great answers from forum members including links to the best resources on repairing SMPS.
A couple more tips…
Make sure you get a SMPS repair guide that teaches you everything in a step-by-step fashion AND provides in-depth information on safety guidelines, tools and test equipment to conduct proper SMPS repair and troubleshooting.
Some SMPS reparation manuals do not provide such information which I think is a shame because topics on safety and testing tools are absolutely crucial.
Lastly…And this is very, very important!
Try obtaining a manual that includes PERSONAL email consultation support from technicians who are experts in repairing SMPS.
If you have personal email access to an expert, then I guarantee you'll have very little trouble repairing faulty switch mode power supplies.
Think about it, any problems you may have can easily be addressed by sending an email to the expert. Now that's POWERFUL!

when I record from vinyl to tape the play back volume is low.playing records and tapes are ok what do i need?
The record player is connected to the audio tape by means of a 7 pin din plug, and on the amplifier side and 4 jack plugs on the tape recorder.
It's all about audio signal levels - The signal produced by a record player stylus is a fraction of the signal level produced by a tape deck and in-fact requires special (RIAA) amplification to bring it up in the first place.
Usually the amplifier input has a dedicated input marked 'phono' for the purpose. There are seperate amplifier boxes available to do this conversion and amplification if it really is a problem. They produce similar output levels to the tape deck.

Can I use avery inkjet iron-on tranfers in a laser printer?
I want to use avery inkjet iron-on transfers (3302) in a laser printer but want to know if it will work, or more importantly, damage the printer. Here are the labels:

I think the FAQ's mentioned previously only apply to labels. I could not see anything about iron-on transfers.
I would advise against putting these through a laser printer, you may find the transfer material peels off and damages the printer (the drum will be similar temperature as that of an electric iron).
Oops I mean fuser not drum.
