Question for the "cutters" and "slitters" "slashers" etc?

Whats the point in cutting? i asked some one earlier, they said its to kill them self, but jeez man how many cuts does it take 1 or 2 should do the tricks, and every one keeps asking "how do i stop cutting" ermm stay away from sharp objects? replace the knifes with spoons? but yeah off topic, my question is "What is the point in you cutting yourself, what does it do for you" :/
