wireless routers?
Can anyone tell me the best router for a wireless connection to use my laptop anywhere within a 4 bed detached house?
I have now had 3 BT Home Hubs, 1 Voyager 2500, and none of them give me a decent signal upstairs. BT is my ISP and they have now given up as nothing they can do makes any difference. My local computer shop tells me a Netgear costing about £85 would give a much stronger signal but I am reluctant to pay up without some proof that it will work better than BT products. I am worried that something in my set up is blocking the signal going upstairs, but all mirrors have been moved, dect phone moved well away from the router etc. and every connection fitted with a filter. Help please as l am fed up trying to use my laptop downstairs and hoping the website stays on the screen as I rush upstairs to my office and printer.
Perhaps the Router and/or laptop need to be in different positions/locations. My BT Router is on a high shelf downstairs. Signals upstairs vary from Excellent to Poor in the most distant bedroom. I blame the wiring or central heating pipes under the floor boards, or is it all those metal coat hangers in a wardrobe.
