The smallest number of shipping accidents occur because of poor operation of the ship itself. Other causes are largely preventable and due to improper behavior by passengers or the operator of the boat. You be operating a boat or a passenger in it, always take proper safety precautions and use common sense. Not distract the driver of the vehicle or allow it to distract you if you're driving the boat.

Auto Bailer on Sunfish Type Boat?
I have a Porpoise 2 (exactly like a sunfish in every way) and it seems to me that the auto bailer seems always seems to be open (there is no way to close it, so I assume its open), I know that it helps when your moving but if I am stopped it will affect the weight and speed of the boat I would think. Anyone know about how it works on a sunfish?
the original bailer came with a plug to close the bailer on top and a ball to close off the bailer on the bottom
